Women's Soft Ball Festival Are Live

 

The women's soft ball festival dates for 2018 are all sorted and you can sign up now. So fancy trying something new and fun with friends then give it a go, it will be a blast.

Teams of 6, or sign up as an individual, no experience required just need to be 14yrs or above and fancy giving something new a go.
This summer sees four festivals, with one at the Beach.

SINGH LEADS NEWPORT TO CUP

 

The Under 12 Indoor Cup Final saw the top two in the league battle it out for cup glory. Both won through to the final earlier in the evening as Newport (A Singh 41no) past a battling Ventnor (S Mills 58no) by 2 runs. The other semi-final was a low scoring game between Shanklin and Ryde, which Ryde won by 2 wickets.

ECB presents 100-ball domestic plan

ECB today presented its proposed approach for the new eight-team domestic competition - starting in 2020 - to Chairmen and Chief Executives of the First-Class Counties and MCC.

The competition will be based on the simple format of 100 balls for each team.

GDPR GUIDANCE FOR CLUBS

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sets out legal guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information and it replaces the Data Protection Act 1998. It comes into effect on 25 May 2018. All organisations will need to be compliant.

IT’S RYDE’S TITLE

Ryde completed the league and cup double last Sunday when they defeated Brading by 4 wickets to secure the Leslies Motors Indoor Cricket League Division 1 title.

Island Free School Guaranteed Two Titles

The school indoor cricket season has reached the final stages with the finalist all sorted for three of the competitions.
The Lady Taveners Girls U13 and U15 competitions have been dominated by The Island Free School as both finals see their A team take on their B teams in the finals on the 20th March. NORTHWOOD WIN PROMOTION

Northwood’s 1’s have secured promotion to Div 1 of the Leslies Motors Indoor Cricket League following the final round of games in the 2nd Division last Sunday. By defeating Ryde School, Northwood gained their 7th win from 8 games to pip Ryde Cavaliers into 2nd place and win the league 2 title by a mere 8 points. Ash Goldsmith was the Northwood star hitting 41 not out in their total of 120-4 and then taking 4 wickets for 8 runs in their convincing 72 run victory.

RYDE WIN AGAIN & U14s GET UNDERWAY

Ryde ran out comfortable winners against Bembridge on the 9th Feb. Ryde's R Cobb scored an excellent 50no, whilst Ollie Lacey (34no) and Toby Rowland (23) helped set Bembridge a total of 184 to win the game. The young Bembridge team found the going hard against a strong bowling attack and were all out for 54.

ISLAND CUP WINNERS GO OUT

Cup winners Ryde recently represented the island in the 2018 ECB Indoor Cup but were not able to progress in the knockout stage of the competition following a heavy 81 run defeat at Parley (Dorset). Matt Webb (1-13) bowled tidily but could not prevent Parley from posting 140-3. Ryde never got to grips with the unfamiliar surroundings of the Dorset Indoor Cricket Centre and collapsed to 59 all out despite a battling 39 from Craig Williams.

WHITE’S 63 NOT ENOUGH

EPP kept hold of their place at the top of Div 1 of the Leslies Motors Indoor League with a narrow 12 run victory over Shanklin last Sunday. Ben White struck 63 as his Shanklin side tried to chase down the EPP’s 110-2 but it was to no avail as they were bowled out for 98. Earlier, John Buckman (26 not out) and Ben Attrill (28 not out) were the top EPP scorers.

LESLIES MOTOR DIV 2 TITLE RACE HOTS UP

Last week saw the two Northwood sides go head to head in Div 2 of the Leslies Motors Indoor Cricket League and it was the first team who comprehensively outplayed their second string team mates to win by 126 runs. Batting first, Northwood 1 amassed 182-2 with not out scores from Gavin Paddock (32), Ash Goldsmith (28) and Martyn Richards (27) leading the way. In reply, Northwood 2nds were shown no mercy and could only struggle to 56-6 (Callum Witham 25).

U12 Indoor Round Up - 2/2/18

The first game saw Bembridge take on Porchfield & Island Bakeries. Bembridge opened up with the Cobb brother Rueben and Rhydian who put on a strong start putting on 41 runs until Rhydian was bowled by Ptolemy Letchfordfor 16. Rueben retire on 25 and Mason Walker made 16 before being well caught by George Bradshaw of the bowling of Rory Allen’s bowling. LAST BALL WIN KEEPS EPP ON TOP

A scrambled bye of the last ball saw EPP squeeze home against challengers Ryde in Div 1 of the Indoor Cricket League last weekend.

The exciting finish was set up by EPP’s Ben White who struck 31 not out as they chased down Ryde’s 112-6 with just 2 wickets to spare. Earlier, Geoff Kite hit 40 for Ryde who were pegged back by 3 excellent catches from Ben Attrill. The Cricket Board’s young EPP side now lead the table by 34 points.

Week 2 saw Shanklin’s top three batters, Joseph Howlett (25), James Clemens (25) and Daniel Attrill (20) all retire. There good start was cemented by some fast scoring by Jack White (17no) and Ollie Pease who was run out for 13. This left Bembridge  chasing a tough  score of 159 for victory. Div 1 of the Indoor Cricket League saw a last ball win for EPP against bottom side, Newport last Sunday. Newport, without a league win this season, came agonizingly close until Ben Attrill (46 not out) smashed 6 off the final ball to keep EPP at the top of the table. Nat Ridett had earlier scored 53 for Newport and then took 2 wickets but couldn’t prevent EPP chasing down 123 for the narrowest of wins (Ben White 26 not out).

The top two sides in Div 1 of the Indoor Cricket league both suffered setbacks last Sunday.

Brading, who only had 5 players, saw off league leaders EPP by 3 wickets to gain their second win of the season. Good all round performances from Alan Johns and Mark Hartnell meant Brading were able to chase down EPP’s total of 115-5. The U12 Indoor league got under way last Friday with two fantastic encounters. The first saw Shanklin take on last year’s champions Newport. Shanklin batted first with Clemens and Howlett looking comfortable at the crease until Clemens was run out for 9. Attrill (41) came to the crease with Howlett (38) and it was not long until both had retired as they reached 25 with some ease. 5 TEAMS AT THE TOP

Five sides are in close contention at the top of Div 2 of the Indoor Cricket League following the latest round of matches last Sunday with Ryde Cavaliers, Prison Officers, Godshill, Ryde School and Northwood separated by just 9 points as the league closes in on the half way stage.

KEN YOUNG

Shanklin CC stalwart Ken Young passed away over Christmas and his funeral will be held at Binstead Church on Thursday 25 January at 11.00am for those wishing to pay their respects.

ALLEN LEADS THE WAY FOR OFFICERS

The indoor cricket league got back underway last Sunday at Ryde Academy.

Prison Officers maintained their good start and now head the table in Division 2 following a close victory over Ryde School mainly thanks to a terrific all round performance from Mark Allen. In Division 2 of the Indoor Cricket League, it is Ryde School, Prison Officers, Ryde Cavaliers and Godshill who are setting the early pace as all recorded a second win in Division 2 of the Indoor Cricket League over the last two weeks.

Dan Cox bowled the remarkable figures of 3-5 as his Ryde School side emphatically beat Island Bakeries. Batting first, the Bakers were reduced to 59 all out, a total passed by Ryde School in just 6 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

In Division 2 of the Indoor Cricket League, it is Prison Officers and Ryde School who are setting the early pace as both recorded a second consecutive win last Sunday.
